The Story

Royal Stafford China was established in 1845 and became recognized around the world for manufacturing high quality beautiful tableware. In 1992 the company merged with Barratts of Staffordshire to become “Royal Stafford” with “China” or “Bone China” excluded from the name. This is a Royal Stafford China (Thomas Poole & Gladstone China Ltd) fine porcelain biscuit plate designed in the squared shape with a scalloped rim and 4 handles with embossed scroll motifs in powder blue. An impressed circular centre rounds off the design. The biscuit plate has been decorated in a colourful pink and blue studio floral pattern along the gentle green and mist grey leaves, which is known as the “Hydrangea” pattern. The rim is decorated in prominent blue trim.

The plate is stamped underneath: Royal Stafford, Made in England, Bone China.

The plate has age related crazing underneath, aside from which it is in very good condition.

Height of rim: 2.4 cm, Height of handles: 2.2 cm, Diameter of base: 12 cm, Across rim: 21.2 cm, Handle to handle: 23.4 cm
