The Story
The firm traces its beginnings back to 1811 when Franz Miessl began manufacturing faience at a pottery he had purchased. Between 1830 and 1834 the factory was leased by F Weisl who sold it to Johann Dietl, Johann Huttner and Johann Schreyerow and renamed it Huttner & Co. In 1842 the factory was purchased by Moses Portheim and later run by his sons. In 1872 the factory was sold to Haas & Czjzek. By 1958 it had become part of Karlovarsky Porcelan.
The item is a fine porcelain te plate manufactured in Czechoslovakia by Haas & Czjzek between 1918 and 1938 when this particular mark was used. The tea plate has gold trim, a scalloped rim and has been decorated in Hass & Czjzek’s “Victoria” pattern, which displays multi colour tiny roses and leaves.
The tea plate is stamped underneath with Haas & Czjzek mark used between 1918 and 1938.
The tea plate is in very good condition with no damages noted.
