The Story

The firm was established by John Round in Sheffield in 1847 as a small workshop attached to his house in Tudor Street. He proved successful and went into partnership with his son Edwin, then becoming John Round & Son. In 1874 the firm became John Round & Son Ltd. and in 1875 used the trade mark of a globe under the name Edwin Round & Son. In 1886 the firm began to use a four trident as its trade mark. In the 1930’s the firm was purchased by Jospeh Rodgers & Sons.

This splendid item is an antique silver plated serving spoon manufactured by John Round & Son around 1875 and created with the classic Omni handle design. Also known as the Satin design by Oneida cutlers. The spoon has a cursive monogram (B) etched on the handle top.

Handle stamped JR & S in gothic followed by the globe mark and EP

The spoon is in very good condition considering the age..

Length: 22.5 cm, Width of bowl: 5.5 cm, Width of handle top: 2.3 cm
